Sadly, if you go into a retail outlet these days, you will not always receive the correct advice, that is even if they
listen to you properly and assess your needs accurately.
At one time, analysis of what to upgrade to was pretty easy. You just purchased the new
model of the desktop personal computer and the next Operating System, together with an
upgrade of the applications (the software that runs under the Operating System).
These days, there are a vast array of different personal computers, processors, hard drive
capacities and types, monitors, screen types and resolutions, traditional screens, touch
screens, operating systems, storage devices (internal, external and virtual). If you get
through all of that, you then have to decide if you still want a desk top computer, a lap top,
a notebook, a tablet and so on.
Retailers rely on high profits and minimum time with customers, to pay wages and overheads when the store is quiet.
They will often try and sell you stock that isn't moving or just aim for a quick sale, untargeted to your real needs.

Personal Computer technologies and efficiencies are exponentially improving and our needs in respect of evolving
operating systems, software and applications change over time.

Peripheral Hardware Installation and Integration
There is a wide range of different hardware out there, and, like software, it can be very difficult just keeping up with emerging and innovative technologies, let alone decide what is right for you and where to source it from.
If you are upgrading your Operating System, there is always the risk that your current peripheral hardware is incompatible.
Routers, Port Splitters, Printers, Scanners, Multi Function Devices, the list is virtually endless.
At very least, you will need to source and install drivers (software) that allows your peripheral hardware device/s to function under the new operating system. In some cases, this may simply not be an option and you will need to assess, source, acquire, purchase and install new replacement peripheral hardware and the appropriate software.

Site Installations and Upgrades
Undertaking a complete upgrade of your computers other hardware and software can be the most daunting task of all. You are compounding all the issues that I have covered in PC Upgrades, Software Upgrades and Hardware Installations.
Regardless of your situation, you want the transition to the new installation to be as smooth and seamless as possible and something that you do not need to worry about. That is where I come in!
You might be a new single computer user, a single computer user that wants to upgrade their existing installation or a business site that wants to revamp and update their whole office network.
I will sit down with you, assess your needs and then recommend the appropriate configuration and technologies that best suits your requirements.
All your computing components will be ordered, installed, configured, networked, updated and integrated offsite. Migration of your data, emails and email accounts will also be comprehensively mapped.
Only then will a meticulously planned, low impact cut-over be scheduled and performed, requiring an absolute minimum of time. With any issues resolved beforehand to ensure a hiccup free event.
Training and Documentation
During my 25 years in the I.T. industry and other professional areas, I have undertaken countless hours of training and written volumes of documentation, instructions and work procedures for numerous federal, state and local government departments, agencies and privately owner businesses, across a wide range of platforms and technologies and targeting a wide demographic of users.
Training and/or documentation can be provided following any installation or upgrade, to brush up on your computing skills, or enhance your existing knowledge and can cover a wide range of areas including basic computer usage, terms and navigation, desktop publishing and MS Office applications.
This can be at a personalised one on one level or in a more formalised team environment in a format that suits your needs and at a level that meets your knowledge and experience.
Documentation can be provided in any form - MS Word, PDF, intranet website or any alternative form desired and can be a one off document, a series of updated documents or take an incremental path.
