FAQS
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A REGISTRAR AND REGISTRANT?
A Registrar is an organisation accredited by auDA and ICANN to provide domain name registration, renewal and/or changes. A registrant is someone who registers a domain name and upon so doing, inters into a contract with the Registrar.
WHAT IS AUDA AND ICANN?
auDA - Is .au.Domain Administration Limited develops and administers the rules for domain names using the .au country code Top Level Domain (TLD). ICANN is a world wide entity that develops and administers the rules for all non .AU domains.
HOW DOES DOMAIN TRANSFERS WORK?
A domain transfer refers to the process of transferring your Domain from one Registrar to another. All we need is the Domain password. Sometimes also referred to as the EPP or Authorisation code. We then request a transfer in which sends an email to the contact person for the domain. That person then authorises the transfer and the domain transfers some days later.
DOES A DOMAIN TRANSFERS COST ME ANYTHING?
This depends if it is a .AU or non .AU Domain Name as each is administered by different Authorities with different rules.
With .AU Domain Names, administered by auDA, there is no charge and the domain sustains (transfers) the existing renewal date.
Non .AU Domain Names, administered by ICANN, are required to be renewed for another 12 months.
I DON'T HAVE A WEBSITE - CAN YOU REGISTER/TRANSFER AND MANAGE MY DOMAIN?
We certainly can! If you need someone you can trust and rely on to register your domain or manage your poorly managed existing domain then we would be glad to assist!
